All channels vetted for educational quality, political neutrality, and a tone welcoming to LGBTQIA+ viewers and new gun owners.
InRange TV
@inrangetv
InRange TV is the strongest match for our community. Karl Kasarda explicitly frames the Second Amendment as belonging to everyone - including LGBTQ+ people, people of color, and marginalized communities. Their Brutality Matches are inclusive events where LGBTQ+ participants make up roughly a quarter of competitors. Content covers firearms history, practical fundamentals, and gear testing - without military or right-wing framing.
Best for:
History, practical education, and a channel that actively welcomes our community
Lucky Gunner
@LuckyGunner
Consistently recommended by the Liberal Gun Club and r/liberalgunowners as one of the cleanest, most bias-free educational channels available. Chris Baker's "Start Shooting Better" series is specifically built for beginners with zero prior experience. No culture-war content, excellent production quality, and a focus on practical everyday ownership.
Best for:
New shooters learning fundamentals and anyone wanting solid ammo science
NSSF
@nssforg
The National Shooting Sports Foundation's YouTube channel is institutional-level professional and non-political in tone. Their "First Shots for New Shooters" program and 200+ safety videos cover safe storage in particular depth. Reads more like a public safety organization than a gun-culture brand - won't alienate diverse audiences.
Best for:
Safe storage, new shooter basics, and range etiquette
She Equips Herself
@SheEquipsHerself
Created for people who don't fit the default "gun guy" mold. Warm, approachable content focused on practical safety and self-defense rather than gear collecting or tactical posturing. LGBTQ+ viewers are generally comfortable here - the framing is personal safety and empowerment. Covers holster options, first firearm selection, and safe carry methods.
Best for:
Anyone who wants content that doesn't assume a male default viewer
TFB TV
@TFBTV
The Firearm Blog holds an explicit "Firearms, Not Politics" editorial standard - it's literally their tagline, and they've published pieces explaining that commitment in practice. Supported by Patreon rather than manufacturer sponsorships, maintaining editorial independence. Good for deep dives on specific firearms or maintenance topics without the partisan commentary that makes many channels uncomfortable.
Best for:
Firearm research, how-to content, and apolitical in-depth reviews
Tacticool Girlfriend
@tacticoolgirlfriend
The most directly LGBTQ+-affirming firearms channel that exists. Created by a trans woman of Afghan descent who built the channel because mainstream gun content was alienating to queer people and people of color. Videos on "how to buy a gun" and "concealed carry basics" are excellent. Note: the creator has stepped back from active production, so this is now an archive - but the existing content remains valuable and worth exploring.
Best for:
LGBTQ+ community members who want content created from their own perspective
Forgotten Weapons
@ForgottenWeapons
Host Ian McCollum delivers deep dives into how firearms work mechanically, design evolution, and historical context. Highly recommended by r/liberalgunowners and the Liberal Gun Club as purely apolitical. No self-defense framing, no culture-war content - just mechanical and historical curiosity. Excellent for new owners who want to build an educated understanding of why guns work the way they do.
Best for:
Understanding mechanics and history without any political or tactical framing
A Note on Other Popular Channels
Many widely-known firearms YouTube channels are technically informative but carry heavy political or cultural framing that may not feel welcoming. FST recommends the channels above specifically because they avoid this. For reference:
- -Warrior Poet Society - Explicitly faith-based and conservative framing throughout content
- -Garand Thumb - Military-tactical identity-heavy; strong community but not welcoming by default to newcomers
- -Hickok45 - Generally inoffensive but carries NRA-affiliated and Second Amendment advocacy framing
- -Gun Talk - NRA-adjacent radio brand; not actively hostile but politically coded for a specific audience

Videos are a great supplement - but nothing replaces hands-on instruction from a qualified, inclusive instructor.
